Job Details

The Senior Accountant is responsible for researching and implementing new accounting standards in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), preparing financial reports, supporting the month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities, including financial statements, footnotes, and required disclosures.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend the implementation of new accounting standards and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain accounting models used for significant financial estimates and analyses.
  • Develop and support internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Participate in internal control, compliance, and audit initiatives to maintain regulatory standards.
  • Serve as a resource for accounting-related questions and provide support to leadership as needed.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger data within financial reporting and profitability systems.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning in collaboration with department leaders.
  • Partner with internal audit and compliance teams to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and accounting policies.
  • Stay current on accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Support special accounting projects, including retirement plan reporting, financial analyses, accounting estimates, and other technical accounting initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Technical Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience within financial services, banking, or a related industry.
  • Working knowledge of banking or lending regulations and accounting requirements.
  • Experience using financial reporting and general ledger systems.
  • Mortgage lending experience is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with banking, document management, or financial reporting software is preferred.

Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • CPA designation preferred.
