    About the RoleThe Virginia Bankers Association (VBA) is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to manage daily accounting operations, month‑end close, and financial reporting for multiple entities. This role is ideal for a hands‑on accounting professional with strong general ledger, reconciliation, and leadership experience who thrives in an in‑office environment. This role plays a vital part in ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with GAAP, and continuous improvement of accounting processes. The Senior Accountant reports to the CFO and supervises accounting staff.What You'll DoManage the Accountant and A/P & A/R SpecialistServe as the primary point of contact for all banking relationshipsPrepare and review advanced journal entries, allocations, and multi‑entity reconciliationsLead the monthly insurance premium collection process and manage end‑to‑end claims payment activitiesProduce timely, accurate monthly financial statements for multiple entitiesPerform variance analysis and support annual budget preparationPrepare audit schedules and PBC documentationEnsure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and VBA policiesIdentify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracyPayroll & AP/AR OversightOversee and approve multi‑entity payroll processingComplete semi‑monthly payroll processing for two entitiesCoordinate payroll activities with the AccountantReview GL coding of payments, vendor reconciliations, AR billing, and deposit documentationHybrid work schedule available for 3 days in office and 2 days remote at the discretion of the manager.QualificationsBachelor's degree in AccountingMinimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experienceStrong knowledge of GAAP and accrual accountingAdvanced reconciliation and month‑end close experienceProven financial reporting and variance analysis skillsAdvanced Excel skills (formulas, lookups, pivot tables)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple prioritiesPreferred QualificationsPublic accounting experienceLeadership or mentoring experiencePayroll reconciliation experienceExperience with Great Plains and Paycom#J-18808-Ljbffr
