Job Summary:
As a Sr. Accountant within our Global Close organization, you will be working cross-functionally on critical projects and providing accounting and operational insights, analysis, and general accounting support. This individual will support our global close process and related special projects, such as close simplification, master data governance and simplification roadmap, M&A integration, and preparation for SAP S4/Hana. The individual will also support the year-end and interim audit processes through strong project management. In addition, the individual will be responsible for assisting with interim and year end audit activities surrounding their area of responsibility.
Major Responsibilities:
Manage key close activities by coordinating the close calendar, monitoring close KPIs and deliverables, and driving timely issue resolution; as needed, prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure accurate, on-time period-end results.
Drive close simplification and standardization initiatives, including documentation of end-to-end processes, identification of root causes for close issues, and implementation of scalable solutions.
Participate in process improvement initiatives to accelerate global close timelines and improve quality. Identify opportunities for and drive cross-functional change management of automation to reduce manual close activities and entries.
Support internal and external audit activities (interim and year-end) by coordinating schedules, responding to requests, preparing audit-ready documentation, and tracking open items to closure.
Contribute to SAP S/4HANA readiness by participating in process design discussions, supporting testing/validation activities, and helping translate business changes into accounting process impacts.
Provide accounting integration support for M&A activities, including close readiness, process alignment, and coordination of required accounting deliverables.
Support master data governance and simplification roadmap activities by helping define requirements, improving data quality, and promoting consistent use of accounting master data.
Enhance the internal controls environment through oversight and accountability. Support remediation of identified control matters by helping establish action plans, updating/creating control documentation, maintaining controls evidence, and monitoring completion of agreed actions.
Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis for assigned areas and close-related initiatives. Provide timely, customer-focused support and insights in partnership with FP&A and internal stakeholders, including clear explanations of drivers of results and key accounting considerations. Clearly communicate accounting and close implications of new or changing business activities.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business.
Work Experience
At least 2 years of Accounting or Finance experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Expertise in GAAP accounting and internal controls (with a basic understanding of SOX compliance)
Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: PowerPivot, PowerQuery, index/match, pivot tables, multiple if statements, financial modeling).
Able to work with large amounts of data.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Education
Master’s degree in Accounting.
Certification / Licensure
CPA, CGMA, or CMA.
Work Experience
At least 2 years focused on GAAP accounting and internal controls
SAP, Oracle EPM, and financial close management software
Blackline experience for close management
Audit Board experience to assist with internal controls and SOX compliance
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Experience at a large, global manufacturer or distribution company, public accounting firm
Knowledge of best practices as it pertains to financial reporting for manufacturing, distribution and corporate service center organizations
Experience managing and reporting on large, complex datasets
Experience applying advanced knowledge level of accounting practices and systems

The anticipated salary range for this position:
$79,000.00 - $119,000.00 AnnualThe actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
