We're partnering with an established, privately owned direct-to-consumer insurance services business on the search for a Senior Accountant to join its growing accounting team.The company is a market leader in the distribution of Medicare and life & supplemental insurance products, working with some of the most recognized insurance brands in the country to reach consumers at scale. Backed by a large and talented team across multiple functions, the business has built a strong reputation for innovation and consistent growth.Reporting directly to the Controller, this is a forward-facing role that blends technical accounting with real financial insight. You'll take ownership of the month-end close for your assigned lines of business while partnering with leaders across the company to make sure revenue, expenses, and balance sheet activity are accurately recorded and clearly understood. It's a role with genuine visibility and the chance to influence how the business reports and plans.The environment is collaborative and fast-paced, and it suits someone who is happy to operate independently, take initiative, and contribute both technically and strategically.What you'll be doing:Lead the month-end close for assigned lines of business, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statementsEnsure revenue is recognized accurately and in line with GAAPPrepare and analyze key financial metrics and revenue trendsPresent monthly financial analysis to business leadership and help shape forward-looking expectationsReview and interpret insurance carrier data, including contracts, commissions, and policy activityReconcile general ledger accounts to maintain accurate, reliable reportingPartner with the wider accounting team to support consolidated company reportingDevelop, document, and improve monthly close proceduresIdentify and implement improvements to accounting workflows, policies, and internal controlsPrepare audit schedules and support external auditorsContribute to special projects and process improvement initiativesWhat we're looking for:Bachelor's degree in AccountingFive or more years of progressive accounting experienceA combination of Top 10 public accounting experience in audit or assurance and one to two years in a corporate accounting role is strongly preferredStrong working knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognitionAdvanced Excel skills; experience with NetSuite is a plusCPA certification is a plusStrong analytical and critical thinking skills with high attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication, including the confidence to present to senior stakeholdersSomeone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings drive and initiativeThis is a great opportunity for a technically strong accountant who wants more than a pure close role.
