Job Details
Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their growing healthcare organization. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who combines strong technical accounting skills with a process-improvement mindset and the ability to analyze financial results beyond simply preparing the numbers.
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and flux analysis, while identifying opportunities to improve and streamline accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Own and support key components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
Perform detailed flux and variance analysis, identifying significant fluctuations and investigating the underlying business drivers.
Partner with operational and finance teams to understand financial results and provide meaningful explanations of variances.
Identify opportunities to improve and streamline the month-end close process, including reducing manual work, improving documentation, and increasing efficiency.
Develop and implement accounting process improvements and internal controls.
Assist with the preparation and review of monthly financial statements and management reporting.
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP.
Support audit activities and provide requested schedules and documentation.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and other financial analysis as needed.
Work cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, AP, AR, and other stakeholders to resolve accounting issues.
Contribute to special projects, system enhancements, and other initiatives designed to improve the accounting function.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within healthcare, healthcare services, medical services, or another complex, multi-entity environment.
Strong experience with month-end close and financial reporting.
Demonstrated experience performing flux/variance analysis and explaining financial trends and drivers.
Proven track record of month-end process improvement and accounting process optimization.
Strong understanding of GAAP, reconciliations, accruals, and general ledger accounting.
Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP/accounting systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with cross-functional teams.
