Salary/Hourly Rate: $100k - $120k
Position Overview: The Senior Accountant will oversee and support comprehensive accounting functions, including financial close processes, reconciliations, and reporting. This role plays a key part in manufacturing cost accounting and financial analysis to support business decisions. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills and the ability to collaborate across Finance and Operations teams.
Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:- Manage and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other general ledger activity.
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances and outstanding items.
- Analyze general ledger activity and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with accounting for inventory, including inventory reconciliations, reserves, adjustments, and analysis of inventory-related activity.
- Support the accounting and reporting of manufacturing costs, including labor, overhead, materials, and other production-related expenses.
- Analyze manufacturing variances and provide explanations for differences between actual and standard costs.
- Perform account analysis and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Prepare actual-to-budget and period-over-period variance analyses and communicate key findings to management.
- Assist with fixed asset accounting, capital expenditures, depreciation, and related reconciliations.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable accounting activities as needed.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing documentation, schedules, and supporting analyses.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase reporting efficiency.
- Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives involving finance, accounting, operations, and manufacturing.
- Perform other accounting duties and financial analysis as assigned.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Accountant:- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing or other product-based environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
- Manufacturing cost accounting experience preferred, including exposure to inventory, standard costing, and manufacturing variances.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial analysis.
- Experience working with an ERP system; experience with systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with finance, operations, and other business functions.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Accountant:- Experience with advanced ERP reporting and data extraction techniques.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost accounting best practices.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Prior involvement in audit preparation and compliance activities.
Education Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- CPA certification or progress toward certification is a plus.
