Clayton Services is searching for a
Senior Accountant to join a growing manufacturing organization in the Northwest Houston area. The
Senior Accountant will work closely with accounting leadership and take an active role in financial reporting, month-end close, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and process improvement.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant who enjoys working in a hands-on manufacturing environment and partnering with operational teams. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, manufacturing accounting experience, and the ability to identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting.
Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay Rate: $110,000 - $130,000

Senior Accountant Responsibilities: - Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and assist with financial statement preparation and management reporting.
- Manage and support inventory accounting, cost accounting, cycle count reconciliations, and work-in-process accounting.
- Perform standard cost, job cost, and variance analysis.
- Work closely with operations to investigate labor, material, overhead, scrap, cost, and margin variances.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and research and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with fixed assets, prepaid expenses, cash reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions as needed.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, KPI reporting, and financial analysis.
- Help develop and strengthen accounting procedures, internal controls, and approval processes.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for external audits and other financial reporting requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Assist with accounting system and process improvement initiatives.
- Provide accounting guidance and review support to other members of the accounting team as needed.
- Serve as a key accounting resource and provide backup support for accounting leadership.
Senior Accountant Skills and Abilities: - Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and cost accounting principles.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate financial and operational variances.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to work with large amounts of financial and operational data while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet recurring deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively partner with accounting, operations, and management.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on environment and learning how operational activities impact financial results.
Senior Accountant Education and Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Manufacturing accounting experience required.
- Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, standard costing, job costing, and/or work-in-process accounting required.
- Strong experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting required.
- Experience working with accounting or ERP systems required.
- Experience supporting accounting process improvements or system implementations is a plus.
- Experience reviewing or providing guidance to junior accounting staff is preferred.
