A fast-growing infrastructure solutions company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the team. This role plays a key part in strengthening internal controls, improving accounting processes, and providing financial analysis that supports business decision-making in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment. Reporting to the Accounting Manager or Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for leading complex accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles while supporting month-end and year-end close processes.

Location: Houston, TX 77038 – Hybrid
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account analyses, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, and audit documentation.
  • Perform complex accounting analyses involving high-risk and sensitive financial areas.
  • Analyze historical financial data and investigate accounting variances.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of GAAP and ensure compliance across accounting operations.
  • Interpret contracts and evaluate accounting treatment for complex financial transactions.
  • Research and implement new accounting pronouncements and prepare technical accounting memorandums.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to support financial reporting accuracy and compliance.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
  • Evaluate, design, implement, document, and improve accounting systems, workflows, and internal processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and financial visibility.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic finance initiatives.
  • Participate in ERP implementations, system upgrades, and accounting process improvements.
  • Complete special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as assigned.
  • Provide accounting guidance, system support, and training to Finance & Accounting personnel and other departments.
  • Serve as a backup resource for accounting systems and departmental processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational and financial objectives.
  • Promote best practices, continuous improvement, and strong financial controls throughout the organization.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; advanced degree and/or CPA certification, preferred
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least two years in public accounting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Infor-CSD, Sage, Visual Lease, OneStream, or similar platforms preferred
  • Experience interpreting contracts and analyzing complex financial transactions
  • Familiarity with implementing new accounting standards and preparing technical accounting memorandums
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
