A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and provide guidance to the accounting team. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with strong financial reporting experience and prior supervisory or team-lead responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting activities
Review general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, revenue, expenses, assets, and liabilities
Support annual budgeting and prepare government invoices and expenditure reports
Coordinate with internal and external auditors and assist with tax-return schedules
Review payroll, employee accruals, vendor payments, and ACH payment files
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and funder requirements
Provide guidance, training, and oversight to accounting team members
Partner with finance leadership to improve accounting procedures and processes
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
At least five years of progressive accounting experience
Previous supervisory, team-lead, or staff-development experience
Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls
Experience with nonprofit, fund accounting, government reporting, or grant-funded organizations is highly preferred
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with accounting and payroll systems
Sage 100 and Paylocity experience is a plus
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently
$78,500 - $85,000 a year
