    Description

    A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and provide guidance to the accounting team. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with strong financial reporting experience and prior supervisory or team-lead responsibilities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting activities
    • Review general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, revenue, expenses, assets, and liabilities
    • Prepare monthly financial statements, cost allocations, revenue entries, and variance analyses
    • Support annual budgeting and prepare government invoices and expenditure reports
    • Coordinate with internal and external auditors and assist with tax-return schedules
    • Review payroll, employee accruals, vendor payments, and ACH payment files
    • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and funder requirements
    • Provide guidance, training, and oversight to accounting team members
    • Partner with finance leadership to improve accounting procedures and processes

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
    • At least five years of progressive accounting experience
    • Previous supervisory, team-lead, or staff-development experience
    • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls
    • Experience with nonprofit, fund accounting, government reporting, or grant-funded organizations is highly preferred
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with accounting and payroll systems
    • Sage 100 and Paylocity experience is a plus
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently
