Location: Lafayette, CO | Hybrid – Tuesdays & Thursdays Onsite
Salary: $80,000–$90,000
Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its accounting team and take ownership of high-volume account reconciliations, month-end close support, and detailed account analysis.
This is a hands-on Senior Accountant opportunity for someone who is comfortable working in a highly transactional, currently manual accounting environment. With approximately $10 million in monthly revenue made up of thousands of smaller transactions, this role requires someone who genuinely enjoys digging into the details, researching discrepancies, and ensuring accounts tie out accurately.
The ideal candidate is an independent, detail-oriented accountant with strong Excel skills who can roll up their sleeves, work through complex reconciliations, and confidently raise questions when something doesn't look right. This person will have the opportunity to train alongside an existing Senior Accountant before that team member begins an extended leave later this year.
Hybrid schedule with only Tuesdays and Thursdays onsite
Join a mission-driven nonprofit making a meaningful impact in the community
Step into a highly visible role with ownership over critical accounting processes
Train directly with an experienced team member before taking on additional responsibilities
Work with complex, high-volume accounting data that will keep you challenged
Gain exposure to process improvement and future accounting automation initiatives
Join a team that values flexibility, communication, patience, and collaboration
As the Senior Accountant, you will:
Perform high-volume bank, balance sheet, accounts receivable, and other general ledger reconciliations
Reconcile accounts containing thousands of individual transactions and records
Work extensively in Excel to complete detailed account reconciliations and analysis
Support month-end close and ensure assigned accounts are reconciled accurately and on time
Research discrepancies, identify root causes, and communicate findings to accounting leadership
Perform variance analysis and investigate unusual account activity
Review and analyze employee and personal expense activity in detail
Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation as needed
Complete select accounts payable reconciliations
Assist with vendor account cleanup and other AP-related projects
Help identify opportunities to improve manual processes as the organization evaluates future AP automation
Communicate discrepancies proactively rather than simply clearing or carrying forward unexplained balances
Provide additional accounting support and cross-functional assistance as priorities evolve
The successful Senior Accountant will bring strong reconciliation experience and the ability to independently navigate large volumes of accounting data.
Strong hands-on experience with month-end close and account reconciliations
Experience working in a high-volume transactional accounting environment
Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets
Strong analytical skills with the ability to research and resolve discrepancies
Experience with bank, balance sheet, AR, and/or AP reconciliations
Ability to work independently and recognize when an issue needs to be escalated
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Associate's degree in Accounting preferred
NetSuite experience is a plus, but not required
Patient, flexible, and open-minded approach to working in a manual and evolving environment
Clear communication skills and a willingness to roll up your sleeves wherever needed
This position is especially well suited for someone who enjoys the investigative side of accounting. You won't simply be checking boxes—you'll be working through thousands of transactions, identifying why accounts don't reconcile, researching variances, and helping the team maintain accurate financial records.
If you're a Senior Accountant who enjoys detailed reconciliation work, thrives in a high-volume environment, and wants an opportunity where your accounting expertise will immediately make an impact, we'd love to connect with you.
