Elliot Company, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant, Accounts Payable & Payroll to support and lead core accounting operations with a focus on general ledger, accounts payable, and payroll accounting. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of payroll and accounts payable transactions and related financial reporting in compliance with GAAP. The ideal candidate is a detail‑oriented accounting professional with strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to partner effectively with Payroll, HR, and Operations.OverviewThe Senior Accountant, Accounts Payable & Payroll plays a critical role in the company's monthly and quarterly close cycles, with primary responsibility for payroll and accounts payable‑related accounting activities. This position performs advanced reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis; supports audits and compliance requirements; and provides guidance to staff‑level accountants. In addition to technical responsibilities, the role actively contributes to process improvements and internal control enhancements across accounting operations.A Day in the LifeLead and support key components of the monthly and quarterly close related to payroll, accounts payable, and operating expensesPrepare, review, and post journal entries and accruals for payroll, benefits, bonuses, commissions, and accounts payableReconcile payroll registers to the general ledger, including wages, taxes, deductions, and benefitsPerform balance sheet reconciliations for payroll liabilities, accounts payable, and accrued expensesAnalyze variances and investigate discrepancies or unusual transactionsOversee accounts payable accounting to ensure accurate expense classification, cutoff, and accrualsPartner with Payroll, HR, and internal departments to resolve payroll and vendor discrepanciesSupport internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and audit responsesIdentify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controlsReview work prepared by staff‑level accountants and provide guidance as neededSupport other accounting and finance initiatives as assignedQualifications & SkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field5 or more years of progressive accounting experienceStrong knowledge of general ledger accounting, accounts payable, and payroll accountingSolid understanding of GAAPExperience with month‑end close, reconciliations, and auditsProficiency with accounting systems and advanced Microsoft ExcelStrong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independentlyHigh level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential informationBenefits & CultureOur success is based on our customers' confidence in us, our people's loyalty, hard work, and performance, and the traditions with which Mr. Davis H.
