The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Company's financial records and ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting. This role will oversee the monthly close process, perform complex account reconciliations, support audits, and provide financial analysis to management. The ideal candidate will have strong GAAP knowledge, experience in lending or financial services, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial records.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Perform detailed reconciliations and analyses of bank accounts, loans receivable, warehouse lines, investor accounts, and intercompany transactions.
Account for loan originations, fundings, payoffs, interest income, servicing fees, and other lending-related transactions.
Monitor and reconcile activity related to capital partners, warehouse facilities, and investor capital accounts.
Assist with cash management, liquidity forecasting, and cash flow reporting.
Prepare financial analyses and variance reports to support management decision-making.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing historical data and financial insights.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to inquiries.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, procedures, and reporting efficiencies.
Research and resolve accounting issues, discrepancies, and technical accounting matters.
Collaborate with lending, servicing, operations, and executive leadership teams to support business objectives.
Mentor and assist junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
Experience with loan accounting, private lending, real estate finance, or financial services preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
CPA designation or CPA candidate preferred.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
