Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
A growing alternative asset manager focused on private credit and specialty finance is seeking a Senior Accountant to support its investment accounting function. This role offers strong exposure to private loan portfolios, investment reporting, monthly close, and complex accounting concepts.
The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting fundamentals, critical thinking skills, and the ability to learn investment accounting in a high-growth investment platform.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform accounting for private credit and private lending investment portfolios.
Record principal and interest payments related to loan investments.
Prepare discount and premium accretion calculations.
Reconcile investment activity between the general ledger and portfolio management system.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Support investment reporting and financial statement preparation.
Develop a strong understanding of the monthly loan closing cycle.
Partner with the Investment Accounting Manager on process improvements and special projects.
Assist with external audit requests and regulatory reporting as needed.
Support accounting related to complex private credit investments and specialty finance assets.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Finance.
3 6 years of accounting experience.
Strong understanding of GAAP, debits and credits, accrual accounting, and general ledger accounting.
Public accounting, financial services, private equity, asset management, private credit, or corporate accounting experience preferred.
Investment accounting experience is helpful but not required.
CPA or CPA track is a plus.
Advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
Ability to understand the reasoning behind accounting entries and apply concepts to new situations.
Excellent communication skills and desire to learn investment accounting.
Comfortable working in a hybrid schedule in Miami Beach or West Palm Beach.
