Senior Tax Accountant
Position Summary
Seeking an experienced tax professional to join a fast-paced public accounting environment supporting individual and small business clients. This role is ideal for someone independent, client-focused, and comfortable managing complex tax matters in a deadline-driven setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review individual and small business tax returns
- Manage a high-volume 1040 tax practice
- Communicate directly with clients regarding tax matters and ongoing needs
- Handle IRS notices, misapplied payments, and related tax resolution issues
- Support clients with practical, solution-oriented guidance
- Assist junior staff and contribute during the busy season as needed
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation
Required Qualifications
Credentials
- CPA strongly preferred
- EA may be considered with strong public accounting experience
Experience
- 7–10 years of accounting and tax experience preferred
- Strong background in public accounting required
- Experience with:
- Individual tax returns
- Small business tax engagements
- Client-facing responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment
Skills & Work Style

- Comfortable handling challenging or time-sensitive tax issues

Technical Skills

Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary: $90,000–$120,000 depending on experience
