This job is full-time permanent.OverviewThe Senior Cost Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the financial performance of the mill through cost analysis, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives. This position partners closely with operations and leadership teams to provide meaningful financial insights, ensure accounting accuracy, and support strategic decision-making in a manufacturing environment.Participate in month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reportingPerform account reconciliations and maintain general ledger accuracy and integrityProvide detailed variance analysis and financial reporting to department leaders and managementAnalyze budget-to-actual results and communicate key operational and financial driversConduct cost analysis and profitability reporting to support business and operational decisionsIdentify cost‑saving opportunities and support budgeting initiativesAssist with internal audits, compliance reviews, and implementation of internal controlsEvaluate accounting processes and recommend improvements to strengthen efficiencies and controlsSupport external audit activities and tax preparation processesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance SAP accounting and reporting processesEnsure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirementsSupport budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing financial analysis activitiesStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret financial data and trendsAdvanced Excel skillswith strong systems aptitudeAbility to communicate effectively and build relationships across all levels of the organizationStrong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environmentDemonstrated commitment to ethical practices and maintaining a strong safety mindsetQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field requiredMinimum of 5 years of cost accounting experience requiredStrong understanding of GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting principlesExperience with budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and variance analysisExperience with internal audit processes, internal controls, and compliance activitiesManufacturing industry experience strongly preferredSAP experience preferredProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite requiredBenefitsCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefits packageMedical, dental, and vision coveragePaid vacation and company holidays401(k) with company contributionsSelection may include interviews, an employment background check, a pre‑employment drug and alcohol screen, reference verifications, aptitude tests (for some positions), and a fitness-for-duty test (for some positions).Domtar is an equal‑opportunity employer.
