We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing manufacturing organization. This role is responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and maintaining compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. The Senior Accountant will work closely with leadership, operations, auditors, and tax professionals to drive continuous improvement within the accounting function and support strategic business objectives.

Financial Reporting & General Ledger

  • Prepare timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end journal entries.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain detailed accounting schedules, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Review financial transactions to verify proper revenue and expense recognition in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting analyses.

Cash Management & Forecasting

  • Monitor daily cash and investment balances.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly cash flow forecasts and projections.
  • Analyze cash management trends and recommend strategies to optimize liquidity.

Compliance & Technical Accounting

  • Ensure accounting practices and financial operations comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Research and evaluate new Accounting Standards Updates (ASUs) and provide recommendations for implementation.
  • Support technical accounting matters, including deferred revenue recognition and financial statement disclosures.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Partner with the Director of Finance and department managers to develop, monitor, and analyze departmental and organizational budgets.
  • Assist in forecasting activities and variance analysis.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational decision-making.

Audit & Tax Coordination

  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and related requests.
  • Prepare audit schedules and ensure timely completion of audit deliverables.

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting and finance processes through automation and technology.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
  • Train and support team members in the effective use of ERP systems and accounting software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes within the manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, budgeting, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis and reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • CPA designation preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Manufacturing industry experience, including inventory accounting and cost accounting exposure.
  • Experience supporting external audits and tax compliance activities.
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar systems.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience implementing process enhancements and technology solutions.
  • Position is located in Nashville, TN (Vanderbilt area)*

Pay Details: $90,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year
