The Senior Accountant supports this mission by maintaining the integrity of the financial statements of their assigned properties and providing leadership to Portfolio Accountants.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare all aspects of the financial statement package, including creating and posting journal entries, general ledger review and completion of balance sheet support schedulesEnsure financial packages are completed and delivered in a timely and accurate manner to Directors of Property Management, Property Managers, and clientsIndependently provide answers to financial questions from internal and external clientsMonitor and maintain cash balancesResolve all issues and document response to all review comments generatedAnalyze variances in financial statements and provides explanations to clients (internal/external)Establish resolution plans for complex tenant issues, including researching and determining the best points of contact to collaborate on resolutionReview financials for errors/issues, and determine what adjusting entries are neededReview and approve cash receipt entries by the AR team, and advise AR team on application adjustmentsIdentify and investigate potential AR exposures and determine which balances to elevate to property management and/or the clientReview and approve invoice coding from the AP team, and determine the proper expense accounts and instruct adjustments as neededEnsures all debt, real estate tax, and sales tax (where applicable) are made in a timely manner and internal schedules are maintainedReview leases for accuracy and independently determine the proper parties to collaborate with to determine the financial intentions of the document including percentage sales on retail leasesAdhere to internal accounting policies and proceduresDevelop procedures for completing various bank and balance sheet reconciliationsProvide advice to property management on the development of budgets, and use quality control process to verify that budget information has been properly inputted into the systemAssist and provide daily support with events and food and beverage accounting activities to Property ManagementIndependently manage and determine priority of outstanding tasks and research requestsHandle client audit requests as neededAssist in the set up and transitions of properties which may include loading beginning balance information, sales pro‑ratio calculations, and closing entriesLead monthly operating calls with Asset Management as well as participate in various internal meetingsAssist and provide daily support to Property Management, Asset Management, and the Client Accounting TeamReview and post Year End Common Area Maintenance ReconciliationsAssist special projects as neededPosition CompetenciesEffective Communication: Is able to clearly and succinctly communicate in a variety of settings and styles; can get messages across that have the desired effectTask Completion: Responds effectively to clear direction; follows set procedures; solves immediate problems; escalates where appropriate; sees tasks through to completionTime Management: Uses his/her time effectively and efficiently; concentrates his/her efforts on the more important priorities; gets more done in less time than others; can attend to a broader range of activities; effectively prioritizes tasksEmployee Engagement: Cultivate a working environment where employees are involved in, committed to, and enthusiastic about their work and the organizationEmployee Development: Support employees in gaining the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to develop their talents and use their strengths to achieve proficiency and excellence in their rolesEmployee Performance Management: Help employees meet and exceed the outcomes that the organization expects them to achieveCompensationThe Senior Accountant compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
