Job Details

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its growing finance team. This individual will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the organization's financial records while supporting budgeting, grant reporting, audits, and month-end close activities.

The ideal candidate enjoys working in a collaborative environment, has strong analytical skills, and thrives in an organization where financial accuracy directly supports an important mission.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Monitor grant expenditures and assist with grant reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable funding requirements.
  • Support annual financial statement audits and Single Audits.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules.
  • Analyze financial data and explain variances.
  • Recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Assist with cash management and account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with program leadership regarding financial reporting.
  • Support special projects and management requests.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Experience with month-end close
  • Financial reporting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP/accounting software
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • Nonprofit accounting experience
  • Grant accounting experience
  • Fund accounting experience
  • Experience supporting external audits
  • Experience with Sage Intacct, MIP Fund Accounting, Blackbaud, or similar ERP systems
