    Description

     Job Description:

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT – RANCH & FAMILY OFFICE

Where Exceptional Accounting Supports an Extraordinary Place

Some accounting careers are built around closing the books.

Others are built around preserving something far more enduring.

Seattle Search Group is partnering with a confidential Family Office to identify a Senior Accountant to support a remarkable collection of ranch, agricultural, equestrian, and family office operations unlike anything you'll find in a traditional corporate environment.

Three days each week, you'll work alongside a close-knit team from a beautiful Family Office on the Peninsula. One day each week, you'll leave the office behind and spend time on a breathtaking 3,000+ acre working ranch on the San Mateo County Coastside, where rolling hills, open pastures, livestock, horses, and generations of stewardship remind you that every financial statement represents something tangible.

This isn't accounting from behind a desk.

It's understanding the operation firsthand. Walking the property. Building relationships with the people who care for it every day. Seeing where the numbers come from and knowing the work you produce helps preserve an extraordinary legacy.

The accounting itself is equally rewarding. You'll own general ledger accounting across multiple entities, oversee the accounts payable process, prepare financial statements, support month-end close, reconcile intercompany activity, and partner directly with operations and leadership. As you become established, your responsibilities will naturally expand into additional Family Office entities.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who values craftsmanship in their work, enjoys variety, and prefers meaningful collaboration over corporate bureaucracy. The culture is humble, professional, service-oriented, and built around long-term relationships rather than quarterly headlines.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain the general ledger for multiple operating entities.
    • Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process.
    • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
    • Prepare monthly financial statements.
    • Record intercompany transactions.
    • Support inventory and cost accounting.
    • Maintain fixed assets and assist with annual 1099 reporting.
    • Prepare schedules for external tax advisors.
    • Support accounting system improvements using QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and other cloud-based applications.
    • Partner with ranch operations and Family Office leadership on special projects and evolving business needs.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and month-end close.
    • Multi-entity accounting experience preferred.
    • Experience with accounts payable.
    • QuickBooks Online experience strongly preferred.
    • Experience with agriculture, manufacturing, inventory, livestock, or cost accounting is a plus.
    • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
    • A collaborative, service-minded professional who enjoys being part of a close-knit team.

    What You'll Find

    • Approximately $125,000 base salary
    • Outstanding benefits
    • Hybrid schedule
    • A beautiful professional office on the Peninsula
    • One day each week immersed in one of California's truly exceptional working ranch landscapes
    • Long-term stability
    • A culture that values integrity, humility, curiosity, and excellence

    Some opportunities advance your career.

Others change the environment in which you spend your working life.
