Job Details
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Finance & Financial Reporting, this newly created role will play a critical part in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial reporting across a growing portfolio of commercial real estate investments.
You'll work closely with outsourced accounting providers, property management teams, lenders, auditors, investors, and executive leadership to review financial information, oversee reporting quality, and ensure financial statements are accurate, timely, and fully supported.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys understanding the story behind the numbers, identifying issues before they become problems, and helping build scalable finance processes within a growing investment platform.
Key Responsibilities
Review monthly financial statements, trial balances, balance sheets, income statements, and supporting schedules for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets and ownership entities
Coordinate with outsourced accounting partners to prepare and review consolidated financial reporting
Perform detailed reviews of general ledger activity, account reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, debt activity, intercompany transactions, and key balance sheet accounts
Execute month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analyses, and financial reporting
Analyze financial results, identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and coordinate timely resolution with internal and external stakeholders
Prepare and review monthly and quarterly reporting packages, budget-to-actual analyses, and executive reporting
Support treasury activities, including cash flow reporting, liquidity analysis, banking relationships, and financing activities
Assist with lender reporting, covenant compliance, debt schedules, and financing documentation
Coordinate audit support, tax reporting schedules, investor requests, and due diligence activities
Assist in developing and strengthening internal controls, accounting policies, close procedures, and reporting processes
Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, valuation support, and strategic planning initiatives
Serve as a key liaison between executive leadership and outsourced accounting providers to ensure timely, accurate, GAAP-compliant financial reporting
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
2–5 years of professional accounting experience
Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, month-end close, and financial reporting
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Commercial real estate accounting experience
Experience with a real estate investment company, REIT, private equity real estate firm, commercial real estate owner/operator, or institutional investment platform
Public accounting experience, particularly audit with commercial real estate or investment clients
CPA or CPA track
Experience reviewing consolidated financial statements
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
