Senior Accountant – Regulated UtilitiesCAMS is seeking a Senior Accountant – Regulated Utilities to support the accounting operations for a newly established electrical transmission entity. This role will be responsible for the technical accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance in a regulated utility environment, with a focus on electrical transmission assets.The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience with regulated utility accounting, including application of ASC 980 (Regulated Operations), and is comfortable operating in a growing, build‑out environment where processes and structures are being established.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesPerform and support month‑end and year‑end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reportingApply U.S. GAAP and ASC 980 (Regulated Operations) to accounting transactions and financial reportingInterpret and implement accounting treatment related to Public Utility Commission (PUC) rate ordersSupport the accounting for electrical transmission assets, including capitalization, depreciation, and regulatory asset/liability trackingAnalyze and document regulatory impacts of accounting decisions and emerging accounting guidancePrepare and maintain support schedules, documentation, and audit‑ready workpapersPartner with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and compliant financial processesAssist in building and standardizing accounting processesSupport external audits, regulatory filings, and financial reporting requirementsRequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field5 – 7 years of accounting experience in regulated utilitiesStrong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 980 – Regulated OperationsExperience supporting month‑end and year‑end close processesFamiliarity with Public Utility Commission (PUC) rate orders and regulatory frameworksExperience with accounting for utility infrastructure, preferably electrical transmission assetsStrong analytical skills with high attention to detailAbility to work independently in a developing / build‑out environmentStrong technical accounting expertise in regulated environmentAbility to interpret regulatory rulings and apply accounting treatmentDetail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and complianceAbility to operate effectively in a new and evolving business lineStrong communication and documentation skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience specifically in electric transmission accountingCPA or CPA‑track preferredExperience in multi‑entity or project‑based accounting environmentsFamiliarity with emerging accounting standards and regulatory implicationsSummaryApplicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business.
