Johnson Service Group, a nationally award-winning staffing firm, is looking to hire a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant for a client near Waco, TX in the Energy Sector.

6 month contract | Onsite 4 days per week, 1 day remote | $50-$55/Hr. depending on experience.

The Senior Accountant in the power plant sector is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing detailed reports, and performing various accounting tasks in alignment with industry regulations and company policies. This role involves managing daily financial operations, assisting with audits, and supporting the project team with specialized accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Management:
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.

Accounts Payable:
  • Review and process invoices.
  • Input key invoices into the system.
  • Prepare cash requests for weekly asset outlays.
  • Process payments promptly.
  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.

Financial Reporting:
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Generate financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support budget and forecast preparation.

Audit and Compliance:
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain organized and secure financial records.

Tax Preparation:
  • Assist with sales and property tax filings and compliance.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for sales tax returns.
  • Respond to sales and property tax-related inquiries from authorities and stakeholders.

Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.
  • Implement best practices and contribute to developing accounting policies and procedures.

Ad Hoc Analysis and Projects:
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the power plant sector or a corporate setting.

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software, with Dynamics being a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite applications.
  • Familiarity with financial analysis tools and techniques.
