Job Summary & Core Responsibilities:

AITX is a leading provider of railcar services solutions, and as our fleet continues to expand, so do the needs of our accounting organization. We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support operational excellence through accurate financial reporting and efficient accounting processes. As a valued member of the accounting team, this role will contribute across multiple areas of the accounting function and play an integral part in day-to-day financial operations. This hybrid position requires four days per week at our Saint Charles office, conveniently located off Historic Main Street.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze financial information to support journal entries for AITX's fleet and repair business and assist with month-end close activities.
  • Calculate and record monthly servicing fees and maintenance-related adjustments.
  • Process journal entries in compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
  • Monitor and process adjustments for financial leases.
  • Provide support for monthly intercompany settlements across 50+ entities.
  • Assist with researching, tracking accounting discrepancies and reporting issues.
  • Leverage ERP and billing systems reporting systems to conduct month-over-month analysis and variance analysis for fleet and repair operations.
  • Monitor the general ledger by performing account reconciliations using ADRA, Blackline or Flowcast operating systems.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting workflow efficiencies and accuracy to current accounting procedures.
  • Support ad hoc financial projects, analysis, and audit-related requests as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with the ability to apply accounting standards effectively.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including linked workbooks, data imports, complex formulas, and pivot tables.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and hands-on approach with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across various departments and organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Preferred 3-5 years of accounting, finance, or related business experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field required.
  • CPA certification preferred, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA considered a plus.
  • ADRA, Blackline or Flowcast operating systems to balance sheet reconciliation software.
