Senior Accountant (Hybrid)

Location: Near Schenectady, NY
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
Employment Type: Full-Time | Hybrid

Position Overview

Our well-established client is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support its finance operations and reporting functions. Working closely with the Controller, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting audits, and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting.

This position offers a blend of technical accounting responsibilities and cross-functional collaboration, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both analytical work and partnering with internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Prepare and record journal entries in accordance with accounting standards
• Review entries prepared by accounting staff to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations across various balance sheet and revenue accounts
• Prepare regular revenue reports and reconcile related accounts
• Review cash activity and payment reconciliations

Audit & Compliance Support

• Assist with external audit preparation by compiling documentation and responding to auditor requests
• Prepare schedules and entries related to grant and restricted fund accounting
• Help ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting standards

Collaboration & Special Projects

• Partner with finance team members and other departments to provide financial information and support
• Assist with financial reporting improvements and process enhancements
• Support special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 2-3 years of accounting experience in public accounting or private industry
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting
• Experience with account reconciliations and audit support
• CPA designation or progress toward certification preferred
• Strong Excel and financial systems skills
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication abilities
• Ability to manage deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
