The Professional Division of Spherion Mid-Ohio is partnered with an established and growing company in Richland County seeking a Senior Accountant with a salary range of $75,000–$95,000 + Bonus, based on experience. The Senior Accountant will oversee accounting operations for a multi-entity portfolio of commercial properties, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records while leading month-end close activities, preparing financial reports, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and supervising the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. This position works closely with leadership, operations, and property management to support the organization's financial success.

Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, property-level financial reports, and variance analyses
  • Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations across multiple entities
  • Review tenant billing, rent rolls, security deposit accounting, and lease administration activities
  • Prepare and review Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations
  • Ensure accurate allocation of expenses across multiple properties and entities
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Support year-end audit and tax preparation while serving as the accounting liaison for external auditors
  • Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial reporting processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting efficiencies, workflow automation, and reporting accuracy
  • Supervise and support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable personnel
  • Collaborate with leadership, operations, and property management teams
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close
  • Experience managing multiple entities and intercompany transactions
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial analysis
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Commercial real estate, property management, or property accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with CAM reconciliations, tenant accounting, rent rolls, lease administration, and property-level financial reporting
  • Experience with ERP/accounting software and property management systems
  • Previous experience supervising accounting staff
