Senior Accountant

Empowered Staffing is partnered with a leading healthcare real estate investment and management company with a nationwide portfolio of skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and post-acute care facilities. As the company continues to grow, it is looking to add a Senior Accountant to its Skokie team to own portfolio accounting, the monthly close, financial reviews, and reporting for multiple properties and ownership entities.

Responsibilities

• Manage the complete monthly close process for multiple properties and ownership entities.
• Prepare consolidated, entity-level, and property-level financial statements.
• Compile comprehensive financial-reporting packages for assigned portfolios.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by Staff Accountants.
• Analyze budget-to-actual results, operating expenses, cash flow, and portfolio performance.
• Review lease income, rent activity, and operator payments to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Manage intercompany accounting among property-owning entities, affiliates, and related organizations.
• Perform accounting related to property acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, and ownership changes.
• Prepare financial information and reporting packages for management, lenders, and investors.
• Coordinate external audits and respond to auditor questions and documentation requests.
• Monitor financial trends and identify potential performance or compliance concerns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Progressive accounting experience, including ownership of the monthly close and financial-reporting processes.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial-statement preparation.
• Ability to analyze financial results and communicate significant findings to leadership.
• Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Self-motivated and capable of managing responsibilities with limited supervision.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in real estate, property, portfolio, or asset-management accounting.
• Experience using Yardi or a comparable property-management and accounting platform.
• CPA designation or progress toward certification is beneficial but not required.
