Senior Accountant

Excellent opportunity for a Senior Accountant looking to take on greater ownership, provide leadership and mentorship, and contribute to improving accounting processes and financial reporting. It is a fast growing company in an emerging industry. The position is hybrid working. Compensation is up to $85k.

This role will take ownership of complex accounting activities and play a key role in the month-end close and financial reporting process. This position will prepare and review journal entries, manage key balance sheet reconciliations, support revenue and allocation processes, analyze financial results, and assist with audits.

The Senior Accountant will also serve as a subject matter resource and mentor to Staff Accountants, providing technical guidance and helping ensure accuracy, consistency, and professional development across the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead assigned month-end close activities, including complex journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial schedules, variance analyses, and management reporting.
• Support revenue, cost allocation, cash, AP, AR, and payroll-related accounting activities.
• Review Staff Accountant work and provide coaching, training, and technical guidance.
• Coordinate audit requests and prepare complete, accurate supporting documentation.
• Maintain and strengthen accounting controls, procedures, and reporting processes.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements.
• Support system testing, special projects, and ad hoc financial analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with accounting systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to research accounting issues, review work for accuracy, and clearly communicate findings.
