Senior Accountant

Penmac Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to join our internal Accounting team at our corporate office in Springfield, Missouri. This is a direct-hire, internal position with Penmac Staffing and is not a temporary or contract assignment.

In this role, you'll support the financial operations of one of the nation's largest employee-owned staffing companies by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with financial reporting, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies. What You'll Do As a Senior Accountant:This role plays a key part in supporting daily accounting operations and month-end financial processes.Core accounting responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end close
• Complete account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
• Analyze financial data and prepare reports for management review
• Support annual audits and regulatory reporting requirements
• Review Accounts Payable check runs and verify payment accuracy
• Assist with bank reconciliations, cash management, and fixed asset accounting
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls
• Collaborate with payroll, human resources, branch operations, and other departments to resolve accounting-related issues

Payroll knowledge:

• Day-to-day payroll processing, tax filings, and W-2s are handled by our payroll team
• This role builds enough working knowledge of payroll to serve as backup, answer payroll-related questions, and assist during the year-end crunch

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• Three or more years of progressive accounting experience preferred
• Experience with payroll accounting, financial reporting, or multi-location operations is a plus
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, Pivot Tables, and data analysis
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
