We're looking for a high energy, detail-oriented and hands‑on individual to join the Revenue team as a Senior Accountant. This is a brand new role created to support the company's growth and will be based out of our Austin office (hybrid working model.) This individual will hold a unique position with dual responsibilities of supporting complex revenue operations processes and new product initiatives. Responsibilities will consist of supporting month end close, booking entries to the general ledger, representing the revenue team on product rollouts, drafting technical accounting memos, and performing ad hoc analysis.This is a great opportunity for someone looking to join and grow with a strong accounting team at a fast growing public company.Team Description The Revenue team is an extremely visible, high-performing team, ultimately responsible for accurate financial reporting of revenue. The team is responsible for managing the monthly close, contract negotiation and determining appropriate accounting treatment for our product offerings. Additionally, this team is responsible for designing and maintaining controls over reporting of revenue and assisting in quarterly forecasting activities for revenue and billings. This role will report directly to the Senior Manager of Revenue.Candidate Profile Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting (CPA is a plus) with 5+ years of experience in a similar role within a global revenue accounting team or 3+ years of big 4 experiencePrior experience working with sales data, customer contracts and product offeringsProficient in MS Excel & experience working with large volumes of dataPrevious experience in Software/SaaS industryKnowledge of ERP and CRM systems (NetSuite, Salesforce)Working knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication, with a capacity to articulate issues and synthesize accounting concepts into concise and informative memosStrong analytical, research, and problem solving skillsAcute attention to detail and well developed organization and time management skillsMust be self‑motivated, flexible, deadline-oriented and able to complete tasks with minimal supervisionAbility to adapt quickly in a rapidly scaling, dynamic environment, and align well with MongoDB's core valuesPosition Expectations Advise on revenue concepts for new product initiatives, ensuring compliance with accounting standardsConduct Ad Hoc materiality and sensitivity analyses to determine financial impact of new initiatives and complex transactionsPerform complex month end close analyses on areas such as Contract Modifications, Variable Consideration, and Product ConversationsDraft technical revenue memos arguing the Company's revenue accounting positionsConduct research on revenue accounting guidance specifically relevant to new initiativesSupport review of different revenue streams for appropriate revenue treatmentsPerform analyses to assess the need for combining contracts pursuant to ASC 606Assist in work papers, PBC's and process walk‑throughs for audits (internal and external)Support preparation of contract review write ups and identifying any non‑standard termsAssist with preparation of executive‑level analytics for various internal and external presentationsWork cross‑functionally with key internal business partners, such as GL, OTC, and Business Systems on ongoing issues and help drive to conclusionAssist in other ad hoc project work as requiredSuccess Measures A successful candidate must have the ability to operate effectively in a fast moving environment as well as demonstrate the ability to learn quickly as they support a wide variety of activities.In 30 days, a successful candidate will become familiar with our business, product offerings, and revenue streams.In 3 - 6 months, you'll become familiar with revenue accounting policies, internal systems, operational workflows, and accounting close tasks assigned to you and would be performing them independently.In 6 - 9 months, you'll have established relationships with key business partners such as TechOps, Enterprise Initiatives, Billing/OTC, and Business Systems/ERP and would be working directly with them as and when issues arise.Benefits and Compensation MongoDB's base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB's total compensation and benefits package.
