    Description

    DescriptionThe Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the accounting function by contributing to the month‑end close, leading technical accounting research and application of U.S. GAAP, and strengthening coverage across critical accounting areas. This role partners closely with the GL Accountant and broader team to enhance efficiency, improve financial accuracy, and reduce concentration risk, while serving as a primary resource for technical accounting matters.Principal Duties And ResponsibilitiesMonth‑End Close & SupportExecute designated components of the month‑end close processPrepare and post journal entries (accruals, adjustments, reclasses)Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accountsPartner with the GL Accountant to support timely and accurate close executionReconciliation & ReviewReview account reconciliations prepared by staff to ensure accuracy and completenessInvestigate and resolve discrepancies and variancesEnsure reconciling items are properly supported and cleared in a timely mannerTechnical Accounting & AuditLead technical accounting research and application of U.S. GAAP for routine and non‑routine transactionsDraft accounting memos and recommend accounting positions aligned with company policy and GAAPServe as a primary resource for technical accounting guidance across the teamPartner with the GL Accountant to prepare audit schedules, technical analyses, and audit support requestsProactively identify and resolve complex accounting issues, reducing reliance on leadershipCross‑Functional Support & CoverageProvide flexible support across key accounting functions, including:Senior Accountant responsibilitiesTreasurer‑related accounting supportGL Accountant responsibilities (as needed)Support continuity across critical processes such as royalties, sales tax, and inventory accountingBuild working knowledge across these areas to strengthen team coverage and support evolving business needsDevelop capabilities in royalties accounting with the opportunity to take on increased responsibility over timeProcess ImprovementIdentify and implement improvements in inefficient or manual processesSupport enhancements to close processes and accounting workflowsAssist in documenting and standardizing accounting policies and proceduresCollaboration & Team SupportPartner with the Accounting Operations Manager to support team priorities and executionAct as a technical resource and mentor to team membersSupport cross‑training efforts to improve team flexibility and coverageCollaborate with team members to ensure effective workload balance and continuity across responsibilitiesSuccess MeasuresAccurate and timely completion of assigned close responsibilitiesIncreased technical accounting capability within the teamReduced reliance on leadership for technical accounting decisionsImproved audit readiness and reduction in audit adjustmentsStrengthened team coverage across key processesMeasurable improvements in efficiency and workload balanceRequirements5–8+ years of progressive accounting experienceStrong experience with month‑end close, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliationsDemonstrated experience in technical accounting research and application of U.S. GAAPExperience supporting external auditsStrong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skillsAdvanced Excel skills; ERP experience preferredCPA preferred but not requiredAbility to independently research and resolve complex accounting issuesStrong attention to detail with a big‑picture mindsetEffective communication of technical accounting conceptsCollaborative and adaptable across multiple responsibilitiesOwnership mindset with a focus on team successEquipment to be usedComputer, LMS platforms, content authoring software, standard office equipment.Typical Physical DemandsAbility to sit for extended periods and use a computer and other office equipment.Working ConditionsOffice work environment.#J-18808-Ljbffr
