Description

Overview:

The Senior Accountant assists in the preparation of financial statements, management reporting, regulatory requirements, and maintenance of records and accounts to ensure timely and accurate reporting and/or flow of information.

Responsibilities:
  1. Prepares and enters journal entries, including maintaining templates and allocations.
  2. Daily operations of the G/L system including timely communication and resolution of errors.
  3. Analyzes period balance sheet, prepares reports, and makes recommendations to the Assistant Controller.
  4. Manages monthly fixed asset activity, maintenance, reconciliations, and reporting; ensures related errors are resolved in a timely manner.
  5. Collects, reviews, and reports weekly labor activity and adjustments; researches and resolves discrepancies.
  6. Reconciles balance sheet accounts and resolves outstanding items in a timely manner. Prepares audit work papers and responds to external requests for accounting information.
  7. Reviews company expenses, identifies variances, and partners with management to support expense control.
  8. Participates in special projects, conducts financial analysis, and provides recommendations to support business decisions.
  9. Supports efficiency initiatives by streamlining non-value-added activities and automating tasks when practical.
  10. Provides guidance and training to hourly accounting staff.
Qualifications:

The candidate should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance plus 2-4 years of accounting experience in public or private financial accounting. CPA or CPA candidate preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft applications, with a strong emphasis on advanced Excel skills, and experience using Power BI, Power Query, and Power Automate to create efficiencies. Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills are required.

 

Works under the general supervision of the Assistant Controller. Primary emphasis is to administer accurate reporting and analysis and foster an environment of continuous improvement and efficiency with the department. Interacts with support management as necessary.
