Senior Accounting Specialist – Manufacturing

Salary: $55,000 – $75,000 per year, depending on experience

A well-established, mid-sized manufacturing company in Irondale is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Specialist to join its accounting and administrative team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of their work, improving processes, solving problems, and becoming a long-term part of a stable organization.

We are less concerned with a specific degree or job title and more interested in finding someone with solid, practical accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and a history of stability with previous employers. Manufacturing accounting experience is highly preferred.

The ideal candidate is patient, organized, dependable, and comfortable working through accounting issues to help improve processes and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable functions, including customer invoicing, monthly statements, payment application, and follow-up on past-due accounts

• Handle invoicing for a large customer base with varying billing requirements and complexities

• Assist with accounts payable and vendor-related accounting functions

• Reconcile accounts and research discrepancies

• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation

• Assist with general ledger activity, journal entries, and month-end accounting functions as needed

• Work with the accounting team to identify discrepancies, improve processes, and maintain accurate financial information

• Interface with the company's payroll service provider and assist with payroll-related updates

• Assist with employee onboarding and maintenance of payroll and personnel records

• Coordinate with benefits and 401(k) providers as needed

• Support the Accounting & HR Manager and other members of the accounting team

• Assist with additional accounting and administrative responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on accounting experience required

• Strong accounts receivable and accounts payable experience

• Experience with invoicing, collections, reconciliations, and general accounting functions

• Manufacturing accounting experience highly preferred

• Job costing, inventory accounting, or manufacturing ERP experience is a plus

• Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills

• Ability to research discrepancies and work through accounting issues independently

• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills

• Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities

• Payroll and/or HR administrative experience is a plus

• Accounting or Finance degree is welcome but not required with relevant experience
