ABOUT THE ROLE

A leading financial institution is seeking a Senior Accounts Payable Manager to oversee the full-cycle Accounts Payable function, including vendor maintenance, invoice processing, payment operations, regulatory reporting, fixed asset accounting, and process improvement initiatives. This role will lead both onshore and offshore teams while serving as a key business partner to senior leadership.

The ideal candidate will bring deep AP operations expertise, strong people leadership experience, and the ability to drive transformation and system enhancement initiatives in a complex corporate environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and develop Accounts Payable staff while managing daily operations across domestic and offshore teams.
  • Oversee end-to-end AP processes including invoice processing, payment execution, vendor maintenance, and issue resolution.
  • Manage vendor onboarding, W-9/W-8 documentation, tax identification verification, and vendor master data governance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate vendor payments while maintaining strong internal controls and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee annual 1099 reporting and support internal and external audit requests.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting activities including asset additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate personal property tax filings and asset-related reporting requirements.
  • Monitor AP aging, investigate discrepancies, and drive timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Develop and maintain AP performance metrics, dashboards, and KPI reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies.
  • Partner with Finance, IT, and business stakeholders on system implementations and enhancement projects.
  • Serve as a primary escalation point and trusted advisor for AP-related matters across the organization.
  • Present recommendations, reporting, and operational updates to senior leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of Accounts Payable experience with at least 3+ years in a management or leadership capacity.
  • Strong background in vendor maintenance, invoice processing, payment operations, and AP controls.
  • Experience with 1099 reporting and AP-related tax compliance.
  • Knowledge of fixed asset accounting and personal property tax requirements.
  • Proven people management experience, ideally overseeing managers or large teams.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • Experience leading process improvement, transformation, or operational change initiatives.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and AP automation platforms.
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
  • Experience supporting system implementations or process automation projects preferred.
  • Public company, SOX-compliant, banking, or financial services experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
