Amazon Publishing is seeking an innovative, passionate, market-savvy Senior Acquisitions Editor to acquire across commercial fiction genres with primary focus on mystery, thriller, and suspense novels. You will be responsible for discovering and acquiring exceptional content, managing author and agent relationships, and collaborating with marketing, publicity, production, and author relations teams to deliver quality books and world-class author experiences. This is a multi-faceted job in a fast-paced environment that requires facility with date, flexibility, creativity, and a sense of humor.

Key job responsibilities

Identify, evaluate, and develop submissions, projects, and proposals to acquire for our commercial fiction imprints, including:

  • Monitoring trend and sales data
  • Strong analytical thinking paired with excellent editorial sensibility
  • Strong track record of discovering, developing, and publishing bestselling titles and authors
  • Working closely with authors to develop their work and careers
  • Working closely with internal teams to shepherd work from manuscript through publication and beyond
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with literary agents
