A vacancy exists in the Department of Aging for the position of Senior Affairs Associate II, Dementia Project Manager.

Pay Schedule I, Grade 30, Regular Schedule: 35 hours per week.

Job Purpose

Under general supervision, provide education, outreach, and promotion of family caregiver programs and initiatives to the community-at-large, to benefit Baltimore County residents.

Essential Job Duties

  • Provides coordination and oversight of the Dementia Friendly initiative within Baltimore County.
  • Works with community organizations, other County agencies, and the public to execute the Dementia Friendly Initiative.
  • Participates in evidence-based programming, special projects, and new initiatives.
  • Creates publicity campaigns for distribution to multiple outlets.
  • Schedules speaking engagements.
  • Develops agendas, outlines, and presentation contents.
  • Hosts information sessions and events in the community.
  • Supervises and guides staff and volunteers.
  • Evaluates and reviews assignments of staff and volunteers.
  • Prepares statistical and summary reports as required.
  • Ensures performance standards and expectations are met.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff, clients, and outside agencies.
  • Attends meetings and training sessions.

Examples of Other Duties

Participates as part of the Baltimore County Department of Aging (BCDA) team that provides evidence-based programs such as the Aging Mastery Program for Caregivers, Dealing with Dementia Workshops, PEARLS, and/or pursues new evidence-based programs. Coordinate the outreach efforts for Dementia Friends and Dementia Live. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in a social or behavioral science.

(Experience as described in essential duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four years for the required education.)

  • Knowledge of community, human, and social services programs, particularly related to seniors and people with dementia.
  • Skill in creating business letters, writing articles, and press releases.

  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with others.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE

Licenses and Certificates

Some positions within this classification may require possession of a valid drivers license equivalent to a Non-Commercial, Class C Maryland drivers license at the time of appointment.

This position requires satisfactory completion of County-sponsored CPR and First Aid training.

Applicants appointed to this position must maintain all required licenses and certifications throughout their employment.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

These positions are essentially sedentary with occasional walking, lifting, or other restricted physical activities. Positions may require traveling between work sites.

Salary

Annual Salary review - Step increases may be granted on anniversary date based on satisfactory job performance

General Increases - Cost of living increases and adjustments may be granted as legislated.

Longevity Increases - In accordance with the specific pay schedule, a full-time merit or classified employee may receive a longevity increase, equivalent to one step, upon completion of a certain number of years of classified service with the County.
