Job Description
Our client is a fast-growing, technology-driven specialty insurance platform that is transforming how commercial insurance products are built, distributed, and serviced. Backed by a leading private equity firm, the company combines deep industry expertise with modern engineering, data, and AI to deliver innovative solutions at scale.

As the organization continues to expand, they are seeking a Senior Staff Engineer, Full Stack (AI-Enabled) to serve as a hands-on technical leader responsible for building enterprise-grade applications and shaping the future of AI-assisted software development.

This is a highly technical, individual contributor leadership role focused on designing, building, and delivering modern web applications, APIs, and backend services that power critical business workflows. This is not a purely architectural or advisory position. The successful candidate will write production code, own major components end-to-end, and lead a small, high-impact engineering squad operating in an AI-first development model.

Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent

Location: Remote, but MUST be physically located in the US or Canada.

Compensation: USD $150,000-200,000 base + bonus + full benefits (see below)

What You'll Do:

  • Design, build, and deploy full stack applications across frontend, backend, APIs, and data layers.
  • Deliver software supporting complex operational and transactional workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across applications and integrations.
  • Lead a small team of engineers in an AI-augmented development environment.
  • Establish coding standards, testing expectations, and architectural best practices.
  • Mentor engineers and elevate overall technical capability.
  • Use modern AI coding tools and agents as a primary development accelerator.
  • Break down work into AI-executable tasks with clear requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Review and validate AI-generated code to ensure correctness, security, and maintainability.
  • Develop prompting patterns, review checklists, and governance standards for AI-assisted engineering.
  • Make pragmatic architectural decisions involving frameworks, APIs, data models, and integrations.
  • Balance rapid delivery with long-term scalability and maintainability.
  • Partner with product managers, business stakeholders, and engineering leadership to prioritize and deliver high-impact solutions.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Experience in insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Strong full stack expertise, including React, TypeScript, Node.js, REST APIs, SQL and data modeling.
  • Proven hands-on experience using AI coding tools (such as Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar) to deliver production software.
  • Demonstrated success introducing AI-assisted development practices to engineering teams.
  • Experience building enterprise-grade applications with strong emphasis on reliability, security, observability, and scalability.
  • Solid knowledge of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with complex operational systems and third-party integrations.
  • Track record of improving engineering productivity and delivery speed through automation and AI.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Benefits
  • Employee Ownership Program - eligible employees share in the financial rewards as the company grows
  • Professional Development Opportunities - access to learning and career growth initiatives
  • Owner Referral Program

  • Paid Time Off Programs
  • 11 Company-Paid Holidays
