Role summary:
The Senior Analyst, Tax Operations Spark Driver Platform, plays a critical role in executing tax processes and supporting workflows by ensuring accuracy and compliance in tax reporting for the Spark 1099 population to the IRS and stage agencies. This position will collaborate with teams across tax, compliance, earnings and technology to ensure accurate regulatory compliance reporting, support strategic tax initiatives, maintain compliance with tax regulations, and drive operational excellence. As a key part of Spark Earnings Excellence (SEE), our Team set the bar for tax operational excellence and leveraging emerging technology to support millions of customers, associates, and stakeholders.
About the team:
Tax Operations Team develops scalable Form 1099 tax and withholding compliance processes for Walmart, ensuring accurate calculation, withholding, disbursement, and reporting of earnings.  We play a vital role in regulatory compliance, tax accuracy, audit readiness, and continuous process improvement. By collaborating across functions, the team supports risk management and enhances operational efficiency. Members contribute to system enhancements, tax research, and compliance strategies, directly impacting company performance and stakeholder confidence. The team fosters a culture of accountability, adaptability, and professional growth while maintaining high standards of integrity and compliance.
What you'll do:
-Support high-volume Form 1099 (NEC & MISC) tax information reporting workflows to the IRS, states, and local tax agencies (SALT) ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness. -Prepare and manage state and Federal regulatory compliance reporting, including low to medium complex calculations, gather information from various sources, and support timely filing and reporting. -Gather, analyze, and incorporate data into tax/statutory returns, workpapers, and supporting schedules. -Respond to notices, information requests, and audit inquiries while ensuring timely resolution of issues. -Validate transaction details for accuracy and compliance through control checks and variance reporting. -Prepare and maintain documentation to support audit readiness and respond to compliance requests.
What you'll bring:
-Experience in Federal, state tax compliance including 1099 information reporting, statutory withholding, tax remittance, and related regulatory reporting processes. -Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial/compliance information and perform tax research. -Knowledge of regulatory compliance, audit support, and planning principles. -Experience using custom software and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint. -Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information to various stakeholders. -Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a collaborative environment. -Experience building relationships and partnering with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives. -Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, compliance, and team player. The annual salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $130,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
