A day in the life
Start your shift reviewing work orders and pump history, then move straight to the bench to tear down API pumps and related rotating equipment. You’ll inspect components, measure tolerances with micrometers and calipers, and zero in on root causes of vibration, leakage, or performance loss. Next, you’ll perform precision shaft and coupling alignments—often using laser systems—before rebuilding, testing, and verifying performance. Every job is wrapped with thorough documentation of inspections, repairs, and test results.
What you will do
- Execute maintenance, repairs, and full overhauls on API pumps and associated equipment.
- Disassemble assemblies, inspect components, and diagnose mechanical issues.
- Complete high-accuracy shaft and coupling alignments, including laser alignment.
- Reassemble and test pumps to confirm performance and reliability.
- Record all inspections, repairs, alignments, and testing results with precision.
What you bring
- 10+ years of hands-on troubleshooting and repair experience with API pumps and rotating equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong working knowledge of API 610 standards.
- Experience using precision measurement tools and laser alignment systems.
- Proficiency in mechanical troubleshooting and in maintenance/repair practices.
