Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
- 12+ years of experience in software architecture, API platform engineering, and enterprise application development.
- Strong experience designing and building enterprise API platforms and reusable API frameworks from scratch.
- Hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger, and microservices architecture.
- Experience with API Gateway technologies such as Apigee, Kong, MuleSoft, NGINX, AWS API Gateway, or similar.
- Strong understanding of API security, including OAuth2, JWT, SSO, mTLS, authentication, authorization, and policy enforcement.
- Experience implementing load balancing, traffic management, throttling, failover, high availability, and resiliency patterns.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle, SQL, database design, performance tuning, and data access layer architecture.
- Experience with caching, connection pooling, service discovery, fault tolerance, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployments.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Dynatrace, or similar.
- Strong understanding of API governance, versioning, lifecycle management, and consumer onboarding processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Good to Have Skills
- Experience with enterprise data services and reference data platforms.
- Exposure to event-driven architecture and messaging technologies such as Kafka, MQ, or RabbitMQ.
- Experience in Banking, Capital Markets, Trading, or Financial Services environments.
- Experience supporting multiple applications through a centralized API platform.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience supporting mission-critical, high-volume transactional systems.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Design and build a scalable enterprise API platform and reusable API framework from the ground up.
- Develop and architect RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design real-time, historical, and point-in-time business data access services.
- Configure and manage API Gateway capabilities including routing, load balancing, throttling, failover, and service orchestration.
- Define and implement API security standards, versioning strategies, governance models, and lifecycle management processes.
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms using OAuth2, JWT, SSO, and mTLS.
- Design and implement caching, connection pooling, resiliency, and performance optimization solutions.
- Build reusable components and services that can be consumed by multiple internal and external applications.
- Establish API consumer onboarding processes and API access management standards.
- Implement logging, monitoring, tracing, alerting, analytics, and usage reporting capabilities.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, database, DevOps, and architecture teams to deliver end-to-end platform solutions.
- Support performance testing, production deployment, troubleshooting, operational readiness, and platform governance.
- Provide architecture leadership, technical guidance, and best practices for API platform adoption across the organization.
