Senior Architect – Civic & Historic Design

Overview
VCBO Architecture is seeking an experienced Architect to lead design and delivery on impactful projects across a range of sectors. This role is ideal for a design- and technically-strong leader who enjoys guiding teams, shaping project vision, and contributing to a collaborative studio culture.

You’ll work with a high level of autonomy, mentor staff, and help advance design quality and best practices across the firm. Experience in civic and/or historic projects is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design, technical direction, and documentation for complex architectural projects
• Mentor and guide interdisciplinary teams
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and internal staff to align design vision and execution
• Oversee quality and consistency from concept through construction
• Represent the firm in presentations and stakeholder meetings
• Contribute to firmwide design and technical initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
• 10+ years of professional experience
• Licensure preferred
• Strong Revit proficiency; familiarity with additional design and BIM tools a plus
• Experience across multiple project types, with civic and/or historic project experience preferred
• Clear communicator with the ability to lead, mentor, and manage complex work
