Metro Water Recovery (Metro) is focused on ensuring its wastewater infrastructure remains reliable, resilient, and positioned to meet the needs of the future. As Metro continues to advance its asset management program, the Senior Asset Management Engineering Manager provides strategic leadership for the Asset Management Engineering Division and plays a key role in how Metro plans, manages, and invests in its critical infrastructure.
This position leads Metro's enterprise Asset Management Program and serves as a subject matter expert in asset lifecycle management, reliability, risk-based decision-making, and infrastructure investment. Working closely with the Director of Comprehensive Planning, this role translates organizational strategy into practical asset management programs, standards, methodologies, and initiatives.
The Senior Asset Management Engineering Manager oversees the development and implementation of Asset Management Plans, leads asset condition and criticality efforts, and develops lifecycle strategies and asset replacement recommendations. The role also helps shape capital investment priorities by balancing risk, reliability, performance, regulatory requirements, and cost.

The Senior Asset Management Engineering Manager is a key leader within the Comprehensive Planning Department, working at the intersection of planning, engineering, operations, maintenance, finance, and organizational strategy. Our department looks at the big picture - helping Metro understand future infrastructure needs, evaluate alternatives, prioritize investments, and develop strategies that support reliable and sustainable wastewater services.
The Asset Management Engineering Division works closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Finance, and other departments to understand organizational needs and develop comprehensive planning recommendations. Youll also lead and participate in Enterprise Planning Group activities and decision-support processes that help bring diverse perspectives together around Metros long-term infrastructure needs.
Our work requires collaboration, thoughtful analysis, and the ability to navigate complex issues with competing priorities. Youll work with technical experts, organizational leaders, consultants, and stakeholders to evaluate challenging infrastructure decisions and develop solutions that balance todays needs with tomorrows demands.
How to be Successful:
Were looking for an experienced leader in asset management programs and complex, multidisciplinary initiatives. You'll understand how to evaluate asset condition, criticality, reliability, performance, and business risk and use that information to develop practical lifecycle strategies, replacement recommendations, and funding priorities.
Success in this role requires the ability to connect technical asset management practices to broader organizational goals. This includes developing and maintaining Asset Management Plans, implementing consistent asset management standards and governance processes, and integrating asset replacement needs into Metro's Capital Expenditure Schedule.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential. You'll facilitate discussions among stakeholders with competing operational, maintenance, engineering, and financial priorities and use technical expertise, facilitation, and collaboration to influence decisions across the organization. You'll also communicate complex asset management concepts and recommendations effectively to technical staff, managers, leadership, committees, and stakeholder groups.
Technology and data will also be important to your success. You'll partner with Information Technology and operational stakeholders to improve Enterprise Asset Management systems, develop business requirements, improve asset information quality, and ensure dashboards, reporting, and analytical tools provide meaningful decision support.

You'll coach and mentor staff, support workforce and succession planning, develop technical capabilities, and foster a positive and productive work environment built on safety, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making.

As the Senior Asset Management Engineering Manager, you'll have a significant opportunity to shape the future of Metro's infrastructure. You'll lead a major functional area within Comprehensive Planning with substantial autonomy, partnering with the Director of Comprehensive Planning to develop and implement asset management strategies that support Metro's long-term goals.
Your work will influence how Metro understands the condition and risk of its assets, prioritizes renewal and replacement needs, manages lifecycle costs, and makes capital investment decisions. You'll help establish the standards, governance, processes, and decision-support tools that create consistency in asset management practices across the organization.

General Statement:
Provides strategic leadership and functional oversight for Metro's Asset Management Engineering Division related to the planning, research, study, asset management, maintenance, operation, and optimization of wastewater transmission and treatment facilities. Partners with the Director of Comprehensive Planning define long-range infrastructure strategy and ensure effective execution of programs aligned with organizational goals. Leads multidisciplinary teams and major initiatives with significant organizational impact. Works under the general direction of the Director of Comprehensive Planning. Direct and supervise the work of Comprehensive Planning staff.
