Senior Associate - Business Valuations

Location: Draper, UT (Salt Lake City)

Overview

A leading independent valuation advisory firm is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate to join its Valuation Services team in Draper, Utah. This role focuses on delivering rigorous business valuations and financial analyses for tax, financial reporting, and transaction-related purposes. The position is well suited for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, high-performance environments, enjoy solving complex financial problems, and are eager to take ownership of their work while continuing to deepen their technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform business valuations for financial reporting and tax compliance purposes, including purchase price allocations, goodwill impairment testing, common stock valuations, derivative valuations, solvency opinions, and fairness opinions
  • Build and maintain complex financial models, including discounted cash flow analyses, market-based valuation approaches, and option-pricing models
  • Manage valuation engagements from inception through completion, including due diligence, management interviews, financial analysis, and report preparation
  • Collaborate closely with clients, auditors, legal counsel, board members, and institutional investors to deliver high-quality, defensible analyses
  • Prepare clear, well-supported valuation reports and client presentations
  • Manage multiple concurrent engagements while meeting tight deadlines and quality standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in business valuation, investment banking, transaction advisory, or a related discipline
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to independently solve complex, ambiguous problems with limited supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of accountability, intellectual curiosity, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with-or willingness to leverage-AI-enabled tools to enhance analytical efficiency and productivity
  • Comfortable operating in a demanding, deadline-driven environment
  • Currently hold or are actively pursuing a valuation credential (e.g., ASA, CVA, CFA)
