Senior Associate Merchant – Perigold (Tabletop, Kitchen & Small Electrics)

Perigold is Wayfair’s destination for luxury home, bringing together the world’s most prestigious brands with an elevated, design‑forward shopping experience. We inspire customers with beautifully curated assortments across furniture, décor, tabletop, kitchen, and more – online and in our Perigold Physical Retail stores.

We are seeking a Senior Associate Merchant to support the Tabletop, Kitchen & Small Electrics category for Perigold, with a primary focus on our Perigold Physical Retail business. This role will help drive a high‑performing assortment that reflects Perigold’s elevated aesthetic, delivers a best‑in‑class in‑store experience, and supports profitable growth.

You will be a key operator for the business: pulling and synthesizing data, helping to build and maintain assortments, managing day‑to‑day vendor and cross‑functional workflows, and supporting execution of seasonal flips and key launches. You’ll combine strong analytical skills with curiosity for product, trend awareness, and a “roll‑up‑your‑sleeves” mindset in a fast‑moving, start‑up‑like retail environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Category & Assortment Support
    • Partner to execute the assortment for Perigold Tabletop, Kitchen & Small Electrics in Physical Retail.
    • Pull and analyze weekly and monthly category performance (e.g., sales, margin, sell‑through, productivity per square foot) and distill insights and recommendations.
    • Help identify assortment gaps, redundancies, and white‑space opportunities across brands, price points, styles, and use‑cases.
    • Maintain core assortment tools and trackers (assortment lists, launch calendars, swap/drop trackers) with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Brand, Aesthetic & Customer Experience
    • Ensure product selections support Perigold’s brand standards for quality, design, and luxury positioning

    • Support Visual Merchandising and the Merchant by providing assortment context, product details, and prioritization inputs for floor sets and planograms.

    • Monitor competitive and trend landscapes in tabletop, kitchen, and small electrics and share insights with the team to keep the assortment fresh and relevant.

  • Vendor & Cross‑Functional Coordination
    • Act as a day‑to‑day point of contact for a subset of vendors and support larger strategic initiatives related to your category
    • Partner with Planning & Allocation (P&A) on data pulls, forecast inputs, and inventory or productivity deep dives.
    • Partner with Visual Merchandising on merchandising in store - product swaps, flips, and other changes impacting the sales floor.
  • Operational Excellence & Execution
    • Own or co‑own executional workstreams tied to seasonal flips, new brand or product launches, and promotional events (e.g., timelines, inputs, QA).
    • Maintain clean, accurate product and assortment data across systems and documentation.
    • Proactively flag risks and opportunities (e.g., underperformers, out‑of‑stocks, late launches) and propose action plans with the Merchant and P&A.
    • Help refine and document processes, templates, and best practices as Perigold Physical Retail scales.
  • Growth & Development
    • Build deep familiarity with the category, customer, and competitive set, with a clear growth path toward owning a category as a Merchant.
    • Seek and incorporate feedback from your manager, peers, and cross‑functional partners; contribute to a “we win together” culture on the team.

In your first 6–12 months, success will look like:

  • Building strong command of the Perigold Tabletop, Kitchen & Small Electrics assortment, key vendors, and core performance drivers.
  • Consistently delivering accurate, timely reporting and insights that materially inform assortment, pricing, and inventory decisions.
  • Taking full ownership of defined workstreams (e.g., specific vendor sets, sub‑categories, or seasonal projects) with limited oversight.
  • Being a highly reliable cross‑functional partner to P&A, Visual Merchandising, Store Operations, and key vendors.
  • Demonstrating growth toward Merchant‑level ownership, judgment, and strategic thinking while embodying Wayfair’s values in your day‑to‑day work.

What You’ll Need

  • Experience or interest in merchandising, category management, buying, planning/analysis, or a closely related analytical/commercial role.
  • Demonstrated comfort working with data to drive decisions; strong Excel skills required (LOOKUPs, pivots, basic modeling).
  • Experience pulling or working with performance metrics (e.g., sales, margin, inventory, productivity) and turning analysis into clear recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a track record of managing multiple concurrent projects or deadlines.
  • Clear, concise communication skills – both written and verbal – and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and levels.
  • Curiosity and passion for product, design, and trends in the home / tabletop / kitchen space, with a strong aesthetic eye.
  • Comfort operating in an ambiguous, fast‑paced environment and willingness to “do what it takes” to move work forward.

Bonus:

  • Experience supporting or working with brick‑and‑mortar retail (e.g., buying, planning, visual merchandising, store operations).
  • Experience working directly with external vendors or suppliers on assortments, pricing, or content.
  • Exposure to SQL or other analytical tools and interest in deepening data fluency.
  • Prior experience in luxury, premium, or design‑led brands, or familiarity with the Perigold customer and competitive landscape
