Senior Associate, Systematic Trading Services

The Senior Associate, Systematic Trading Services will play a key role in supporting the development and operation of Balyasny's systematic trading platform. This position is focused on systematic trade monitoring, ensuring operational excellence, and efficient execution across global markets. The ideal candidate will work closely with portfolio managers, technology, compliance, and Trading Operations teams, contributing to the ongoing evolution of our platform and processes. This position is aligned to European business hours. Location is flexible (EU preferred); U.S.-based candidates will be considered if they can commit to working European hours on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and project manage the build-out of centralized trade monitoring functions, including gathering requirements, evaluating vendors, and overseeing the design and implementation of new monitoring tools and processes.
• Drive automation of existing manual processes where appropriate, working with team members to identify opportunities and implement solutions that enhance efficiency and control.
• Support day-to-day trade monitoring activities, ensuring timely identification and resolution of issues, and escalating as needed.
• Collaborate on the evaluation and enhancement of tooling for pre-trade checks, real-time monitoring, and post-trade analysis, partnering with technology and trading teams to ensure tools meet business needs.
• Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation of trading processes, including building out and updating the team Wiki to support knowledge sharing and onboarding.

Execution Oversight & Strategy:

• Contribute to execution services across systematic trading strategies, supporting performance, operational efficiency, and robustness.
• Partner with portfolio managers and senior team members to understand trading workflows and assist in optimizing execution procedures.
• Participate in the monitoring and improvement of platform quality, pre/post-trade monitoring, and performance analytics.
• Assist in ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and internal compliance standards.

Platform Development & Operational Excellence:

• Assist in the design and enhancement of a scalable, centralized trading platform supporting real-time systematic strategies across asset classes and regions.
• Identify and help remediate control gaps, inefficiencies, and redundant processes, while maintaining performance and agility.
• Support the deployment, monitoring, and optimization of colocation and low latency trading infrastructure to ensure best-in-class execution performance.
• Contribute to platform reliability, uptime, scalability, and monitoring infrastructure.

Teamwork & Culture:

• Serve as an integral member of the Systematic team, contributing to a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in knowledge sharing, onboarding, and process documentation to support team growth and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, technical, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in trading, technology, or operations within a financial services environment
• Familiarity with systematic trading, execution platforms, or trading operations is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Python and experience working in a Linux environment.
• Strong understanding of databases and monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana).
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

Compensation:

• With respect to NY, CA, and IL based applicants, the starting base pay range for this role is between USD 15000 and USD 200000 annually. The actual base pay is dependent upon several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, business needs and market demands. This role may also be eligible for bonus compensation and employee benefits.
