Senior Attorney – 64003921Position: Senior Attorney (located in Palm Beach County) providing legal services to the Florida Department of Health (PDH) for Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, and Okeechobee counties.ResponsibilitiesProvide legal advice, conduct research, and ensure program compliance with local, state, and federal laws.Investigate legal issues affecting patient care, staff relations, environmental health, regulatory enforcement, contracts, and agreements.Review and determine validity of requests for legal action before various hearings boards and courts, and conduct witness briefings.Enforce and prosecute violations related to regulated facilities under the Department's Environmental Health Program.Review Consent Orders for Department of Environmental Protection delegated programs.Review, revise, and approve contracts, memoranda of agreement, grants, and competitive procurements.Support HR and management with personnel matters, including discipline, FLSA, EEO, and PERC issues.Handle HIPAA and confidentiality issues.Review child‑care licensing applications.Respond to ethics inquiries.Litigate TB commitment hearings in Circuit Court.Assess risk management matters and liaise with the Division of Risk Management.Prepare legal opinions and appellate briefs.Provide counsel on privacy, subpoenas, search warrants, depositions, trial testimony, and represent staff in court and administrative proceedings.Advise on disease outbreak responses.Travel to assigned counties for litigation, investigation, training, and other duties.Serve as backup to the Chief Legal Counsel for all legal matters.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsKnowledge of applicable laws, rules and regulations.Valid Florida lawyer license (or other required licensure; cite relevant Florida Statute if applicable).Valid driver's license.Ability to work before, during, or after normal hours during emergencies.Experience in legal research, litigation, and administrative law.Strong oral and written communication skills in English.Experience with HIPAA, confidentiality, and personnel matters.Hours & CompensationFull‑time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday‑Friday; 40 hours per week.Benefits include annual and sick leave, paid holidays, state group insurance options, and retirement plan with employer contributions.LocationWest Palm Beach, FL 33401Legal & Employment DisclosuresSecurity background check and/or drug screening required; completion of Form I‑9 and E‑Verify.Male applicants born on or after Oct 1 1962 must be registered with the Selective Services System.Accommodations for applicants with disabilities upon request.The State of Florida is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Affirmative Action Employer.#J-18808-Ljbffr
