About the Opportunity
Springborn Staffing is partnering with a highly respected Maine accounting and advisory firm to recruit an experienced Senior Audit Accountant. This position offers the opportunity to take an active role in planning, performing, and completing audit and assurance engagements while working directly with a diverse client base and supporting the professional development of junior team members.
The ideal candidate will bring recent public accounting experience, strong technical accounting and auditing knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple engagements while providing accurate, timely, and responsive client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, perform, and complete audit, review, compilation, and other assurance engagements in accordance with applicable professional standards.
- Coordinate engagement activities, including client information requests, fieldwork, documentation, and established timelines.
- Prepare financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Review financial statements, workpapers, and engagement documentation prepared by staff accountants, providing clear and constructive feedback.
- Identify accounting, auditing, internal control, and financial reporting matters that require additional consideration, and communicate findings to engagement leadership and clients as appropriate.
- Develop a working understanding of each client’s business, industry, operations, and accounting systems to assess risk and perform appropriate engagement procedures.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding information requests, engagement status, accounting matters, deadlines, and related questions.
- Research accounting and auditing matters and apply relevant professional guidance, including FASB, GASB, and AICPA standards when applicable.
- Assist with the supervision, coaching, and professional development of staff accountants during engagements.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and well-organized engagement documentation while protecting confidential client and firm information.
- Organize and prioritize multiple engagements and assignments to meet established deadlines.
- Maintain current knowledge of accounting and auditing standards, professional requirements, and internal policies and procedures.
- Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented professional environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- At least three years of recent public accounting experience, including meaningful audit and assurance experience.
- CPA license or demonstrated progress toward CPA licensure preferred.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and applicable auditing and assurance standards.
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, workpapers, and related engagement documentation.
- Sound professional judgment and the ability to identify accounting or engagement matters that require additional attention.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements and competing deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, recognize when consultation is appropriate, and provide guidance to developing team members.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client and financial information with discretion.
