DescriptionKetel Thorstenson, LLP (KT) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Associate Accountant to join our team in Rapid City, SD, Spearfish, SD, Gillette, WY, or Casper, WY.In this role, you will contribute to all phases of audit and assurance engagements, working closely with clients and team members while continuing to grow your technical knowledge and professional skillset.ResponsibilitiesContribute to all phases of audit and assurance engagements, including planning, fieldwork, and completionPrepare and finalize financial statements and management lettersAnalyze engagement performance, including time budgets and audit procedures, and identify opportunities for improvementIdentify and communicate valuable insights and recommendations to clientsResearch technical accounting and auditing issues and support conclusions with appropriate guidanceBuild strong client relationships through proactive communication and high‑quality serviceMentor and support the development of junior staff, including participation in training and onboardingAssist with recruiting and firm engagement initiativesParticipate in internal training sessions and professional development opportunitiesActively contribute to firm culture through team‑building, community involvement, and engagement activitiesMaintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all interactionsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA (Certified Public Accountant) or actively pursuing certification3+ years of public accounting audit experienceStrong understanding of audit and accounting principlesPreferred QualificationsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple engagements and competing prioritiesStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to build and maintain effective working relationshipsCritical thinking and problem‑solving skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracyTeam‑oriented mindset with the ability to work independentlyStrong sense of professionalism and ethical conductWork Schedule & LocationFull‑time or Part‑time positionAdditional hours required during peak periodsBased in Spearfish, SD, Rapid City, SD, Gillette, WY, or Casper, WYOccasional travel may be requiredCompensation & BenefitsSalary depends on experience and expertise.
