Position Overview: Senior LETS Specialist (AV/IT Field Engineering)
Our client is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Senior Learning & Event Technology Specialist to join its AV/IT field engineering team. This hands-on role is responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining a wide range of AV/IT systems. The position also plays a key role in evaluating emerging technologies, leading technical initiatives, and collaborating with internal teams and external partners including vendors, consultants, and contractors.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. AV/IT System Installation & Support:
    o Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair AV/IT systems across campus environments.
    o Provide advanced technical support for classrooms, event spaces, and enterprise AV systems.
    o Perform cable termination, infrastructure work, and hardware integration.
  2. Programming & System Configuration:
    o Develop and troubleshoot control systems using Crestron (SIMPL, HTML5) and VC-4 environments.
    o Configure DSP systems (Biamp preferred) and implement Dante audio networking solutions.
    o Set up and commission AVoIP systems, ensuring proper QoS and network performance.
  3. Collaboration & Technical Leadership:
    o Serve as Subject Matter Expert or Technical Lead on projects and service initiatives.
    o Work with consultants, AV integrators, general contractors, and vendors to deliver solutions.
    o Support cross-functional teams and contribute to project planning and execution.
  4. Technology Evaluation & Innovation:
    o Research, test, and validate emerging AV/IT technologies.
    o Provide recommendations to management on system improvements and upgrades.
    o Support implementation of modern solutions such as Zoom Rooms, Teams Rooms, and digital signage.
  5. System Integration & Lifecycle Support:
    o Support full lifecycle of AV/IT systems (design, install, configure, maintain, retire).
    o Ensure seamless integration with enterprise platforms and management tools.
    o Maintain accurate documentation, configurations, and ticketing records.
  6. Customer Support & Training:
    o Provide excellent customer service to faculty, staff, and students.
    o Troubleshoot complex issues both remotely and in person.
    o Train team members and share technical knowledge across the organization.

Qualifications:

Education:
o Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent work experience).
o Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:
o Minimum of 8 years of progressive AV/IT support experience.
o Experience in professional AV integration, commissioning, or field engineering preferred.

Technical Skills:
o Crestron programming (SIMPL, HTML5) and VC-4 (Linux-based control).
o DSP configuration (Biamp), Dante audio networking.
o Audio commissioning and sound reinforcement.
o AVoIP systems and AV networking fundamentals.
o Zoom Rooms and Microsoft Teams Rooms deployment.
o Digital signage platforms (Appspace, Visix).
o Enterprise AV management tools (Crestron XIO, Fusion).
o Networking protocols: TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, SMTP.
o Video streaming protocols (RTP, RTSP, HLS, RTMP, MPEG-DASH).
o Video codecs (H.264, MPEG2, VP8, ProRes).
o Scripting/programming (PowerShell, Bash, Perl, regex).
o Database familiarity (Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server).
o OS support (Windows, macOS).

Preferred Certifications:
o AVIXA CTS or CTS-I.
o Crestron certifications.
o Dante Level 2/3 certification.
o ITIL Foundations (preferred).

Additional Requirements:
o Valid driver’s license.
o Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
o Willingness to work onsite with occasional off-hours support.
