Job Description
Senior AWS / SRE Engineer
We are hiring a Senior AWS/SRE Engineer for our client located in the Boston, MA, area. The person hired for this position will design, develop, and support complex AWS cloud solutions, with a focus on site reliability, disaster recovery, infrastructure architecture, and highly available enterprise environments.
This is a remote position.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement complex software and cloud solutions for highly available, enterprise-scale environments.
- Design and support high-performance AWS environments for 24/7/365 operations.
- Provide technical expertise in AWS architecture, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), disaster recovery, resiliency, and cloud platform engineering.
- Design large-scale infrastructure topologies, solution architectures, and reusable cloud platforms.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define, test, and implement technical solutions and report results.
- Design and develop backend applications, primarily using Java, within cloud-first and serverless architectures.
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, or similar tools.
- Use AWS services including EC2, Lambda, Auto Scaling, and AWS CLI to build and support resilient cloud solutions.
- Develop automation using Python and command-line tools.
- Design, test, and validate disaster recovery, resilience, and failure scenarios. Experience with AWS Fault Injection Service (FIS) is strongly preferred.
- Provide production support and troubleshoot complex or time-critical issues.
- Collaborate within Agile teams and provide technical guidance on cloud architecture, reliability, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Ensure solutions meet security, quality, compliance, and operational requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 510 years of experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, SRE, infrastructure engineering, or a related field.
- Expert-level AWS experience is required.
- Strong experience with AWS cloud architecture and large-scale infrastructure, including topology and platform architecture.
- Strong SRE experience with high availability, resiliency, monitoring, and disaster recovery.
- Hands-on experience with EC2, Lambda, Auto Scaling, AWS CLI, and other AWS services.
- Strong experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Strong Python and command-line/CLI experience.
- Strong Java development experience in cloud environments.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, serverless architectures, and cloud security.
- Experience supporting high-performance, high-volume, highly available environments.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch or Grafana.
- Experience working in an Agile, team-based environment.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical decision-making skills.
- Experience with AWS Fault Injection Service (FIS) or chaos engineering is a strong plus.
Pay $90 - $105 / hour W2
